a4fbfe No.69

voidchan Minecraft (formerly voidcraft but voidcraft was already taken on apexhosting) has now been moved to a private server host and the Minecraft java realm subscription will be left to expire. The world save has been successfully moved over.

One of the reasons for doing so: We now have cross-play between Bedrock Edition and Java Edition (via third party plugin, thus comes with a few issues in and of itself).

The user list from the java realm has been copied over to the whitelist for the server so if you were previously on the voidcraft realm you should be able to just connect straight to the server. Otherwise I will have to add you to the whitelist when I have time so if you would like to join leave me your java edition username if you are on java or if you are on bedrock I will need to be online to temporarily drop the whitelist and then add you while you are online.

Server details
Address: voidchan.apexmc.co
that's all you need if on java edition.
If you are connecting via bedrock you will also need to enter the port:
Port:19929

Server settings:
-Survival
-Hard difficulty

bbe843 No.80[Top]

>>78
No wizardry. Just a third party server plugin that translates data back and forth between java/bedrock for bedrock clients. On paper it sounds absurd but the games are similar enough on the surface that 'it just works'. Although bedrock has slightly different movement physics if the server has really aggressive anti-cheat stuff enabled bedrock players will constantly be setting it off.

From my past experience, it's a good idea to set a boarder if you plan to keep the same world through multiple updates. Depending on how big of a package you bought from Apex, you can set the boarder as needed. Generally at 1000 blocks square per GB to keep the server stable.

Gamerule: Keep Inventory on Death?
So the last time I asked about it was forever ago with entirely different people regularly playing on the minecraft server and I've noticed bedrock players seem to die a lot (bedrock movement phyiscs vs. java mob ai probably ends up in favor of the mobs I'd assume).

How does everyone who is regularly playing now feel about the setting to keep your inventory on death?

I can basically set it so that the only real consequence of death is the inconvenience of being sent back to your bed. (also enables players to go long distances to gather resources and then "death warp" back home)

Makes the game a little more trivial, although ender dragon and wither still have other ways of fucking your shit up.

So Kabel, Kady, Jiggle blz weigh in.

So mostly in favor of keeping the normal behavior. I'll work on making a bedrock friendly way to the ole factory I suppose. I think for Kady I might set up a command block teleport to get there since I imagine trying to navigate ice bridges on mobile is a complete nightmare. As it is I just finished the span to the ice field and I just need to make a tower up and down from the bridge and that'll make mining ice a lot easier which means making bedrock friendly ice roads will be easier too.
Sadly minimalist ice roads that are both bedrock and java friendly look a little weird.
(since in java they work because they give boats low friction, and in bedrock they work because they give boats high propulsion) So any part of the bottom of the boat on Java that's not on ice needs to be on air. Whereas on bedrock as long as all of the blocks in the direction of travel are ice you will get max speed.

So to make it both Java and Bedrock friendly you can't have the guiderails placed on top of any blocks. So it's just a long floating span of glass pains.

a4fbfe No.125[Top]

Oh and also toolsmiths pretty reliably end up getting a 4 iron ingot = 1 emerald trade early on. So iron farms can generate emeralds pretty fast too.

There's also apparently an infinite loop you can set up via trading for glass from librarians and crafting it into glass panes to sell to cartographers.
